Thanks to all erikk's advice here is the shaft I just made.
OK what follows are some pictures and short explanation on my home made strait shaft for my Excal.
In this picture is everything.
In this one you can see the shaft has been cut to length.
Here you see the control and battery pods on the shaft to mark holes.
Make note of the rubber bands to hold both pods together while marking holes.
OK now before marking any more holes I will drill and attach the pods first.
Note: I drilled each separately in another words I drilled three on one side rolled it over and drilled the three on the other side.
You can see my bolts are a little long here I will cut them down.
Now I pulled the arm cuff off of the S shaft and slid it on the strait shaft to mark the hole for the cuff.
Next I slid the arm cuff down and used it to make the hole for the lower shaft.
Note how with the pods bolted to the shaft keeps the shaft lined up while marking the rest of the holes.
Here you can see I took the hacksaw to the SS bolts and shorten them. You also see the bicycle end bar on the shaft.
And here it is all together. I still need to paint the shaft and add the foam grip.
I used the nylon bolt and wing nut on the arm cuff, I could have used the spring buttons from the S shaft for the pods but I liked the SS bolts and wing nuts better. I did leave the spring button in the lower shaft and only drilled holes on one side for it.
Here is the shaft after I painted it.
