Home built in 1910

Hey Guys,

I was recently showing a home to a client and the home was built in 1910. I spoke with the homeowner and he politely gave me permission to hunt the property. He has lived there 19 years and said to his knowledge no one has ever detected the property. I went there today and the AT Pro was all over th board. The VDI was bouncing around everywhere. I did ground balance that did not seem to help. I know there has to be old coins and who knows what else. I see a lot of post on here with finds that date way back when. What readings do you typically get with old silver coins? I didn't find anything of age just a few pennies and also located a old box and the VDI was hitting in the 90's It appeared to be 2x2 when I ran the detector over it. It got dark on me so I have to go back and dig it up. I have a stocked coil and was running in the Pro Mode with iron discrimination 35. Should I switch to the coin mode for older coins? Any help understanding the range for these type of finds would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Try turning down your sensitivity a little bit at a time if your machine is going a bit crazy........probably ALOT of trash in the ground too so you might be better off with the smaller coil to get in amongst the trash to find the hidden targets. Another thing that helps me with the stock coil is to slow your swing speed right down, it can help your machine nicely. Coin mode is 35 discrim anyway so pretty much the same as what you had yours on. If I'm doing a quick hunt for mainly coin I discrim from about 50 to 60 below out.........you might miss some gold and a few interesting things but the machine runs smooth and with little noise and I just keep popping the coins out of the ground just like it was a factory. Good luck.!
Cheers!
