went to a local lake to to hunt, with my ace 250 got a good hit about 4" dug my plug out pop a glad dime and a baby snake...scared me half to death...left the plug open and got the heck out of there

gotta be careful with the younglings. they cant control their venom glands, and will release all of their venom(or can) in one bite

what color was it?

That was a close call! I carry my .22mag pug everywhere I go!

That's just a Southern man's fish-bait. lol I saw a beauty the other week while walking my dogs. Non-poisonous, of course. It was 91 degrees yesterday and they are crawling. HH

I second that " hilarious " !!

the little ones can be nasty as they can't regulate their venom very well,
and often give you a fat dose of kill juice..

yep.. I guess I echo'd you in my last post.. The little ones don't mess around,
and they can be nasty.. Their size might give some a false sense of security..
If it's poisonous, I don't want it around me, even if it's 6 inches long..
I have to watch for those up at my place in the country.. I wear snake protectors
when I'm mowing, prowling the woods, etc.. Also carry a lead spitting device in
case one decides he wants to make my day. :goodnight:
I have to watch for both copperheads and rattlers.. They have water moccasins
down at the lake, but I'm far enough from the water, I usually don't expect them
too much. Possible though I guess, if one came up one of the creeks, and then
slithered across the land.. But it's the first two I watch for the most..
Always real careful where I put my hands, when picking up logs, tree branches, etc..
Or even walking across a tree that is down.. Lots of places those critters can hang
out. They will reach out and touch you if they think you are intruding on their
territory, and they can't retreat anywhere.
