Found these at about 3 inches and the soil was wet.How can I find out what they are worth.
The small oval pendants (2) of them at the bottom date 1830?
I think those are silver, not sure about the rest.:garrett:Digs deeper!!!

Thanks for your support
SPUD

The 1830 date is a date that some high Religious occurrence took place. Quite a few Religious medals show up with that date on them in commemorates of that date. All Religious medals that I have found that are silver are marked either sterling or 925....usually on the bottom on the reverse side. Some silver ones possibly could be collectable, but most would be valued for their silver content. Which, in grams, is not all that much. The silver ones are fun and nice finds, none the less. That's a nice haul for one outing. HH jim tn

I looked and cant find the chain,I will let u know if i find it as it is my yard and i
will keep searching

Wow, that's got to be a record! One quick way to get an idea of the value is to find the item on eBay. If you're logged in, you can check completed auctions and see what they're going for. Try searching for "religious medallion (saint name)". As Jim said, they aren't generally high value, but nice trophy finds. Someone was sure hedging their bets, saints-wise, and it may have worked- it's clearly a case of spontaneous ascension!

One thing that makes them more valuable is the place that they get found. Here, those found in and around war trenches are worth a bit more, even if they're ruined. You can find many of them at local flea markets and religious Marian temples.

Hi Spud

You should list this at the Watszit forum, just scroll down and look for whatszit forum. You might also googel "Rare Catholic medal" see what that brings you.

Hope this help's. Oh include the date your looking for.

Jim Tn is correct, 1830 was the date of a Religious event. Most of the silver medals will be marked 925. Most newer religious medals are made of some type of white metal

It seems kind of strange that they would a.) be all on one chain or b.)lose that many chains w/that many religious drops in the same place? I'm sure they were all on one chain...it just seems weird to me. Please keep us posted what you find out. You should also submit it to the Garrett's Find's of the Month!

Very nice, they are fun to find. If you do much water hunting the become common finds. I get a few from athletic fields as well each year. Keep at it!
