Holy Hotter than a Stovepipe

So the friendly UPS man dropped off my (actually my wife's) new Ace 250 this afternoon at my office. I put it together and tried a few air tests and my secretary suggested trying the backyard. Now mt office is in a former home that is possibly one of the oldest in the town so I said what the heck. Two steps off the back porch I his a strong penny signal at six inches. A few scoops later I was in possession of a depression era Missouri Sales Tax Token.
Now I had bought this for my wife because she wanted her own detector and she hated the weight of my Discovery Treasure Baron (Cointrax installed). I love my Baron but we may have a fight on our hands over the Tella Fella. My only gripe, and not really that, is that it seems pinpointing is going to be a bit tricky. I'll probably get it resolved after a little practice.
I can tell I'm going to love this darling!

Pinpointing is a snap and dead on if you follow the instructions I and others have posted many times.

goes "cold" meaning it loses the target for whatever reason. I might have the coil still over the target, off of the target, whatever, sometimes there is NOTHING to be found.
Well, I tried this and it so far has been the hottest, most repeatable way for me to pinpoint.
Find a suitable target, scrub the area to get a general idea of the location. Raise the coil holding the shaft nearly horizontal, and press the PINPOINT button and hold it. After a second or so delay, place the coil back on the ground where you previously determined the target was near.
Now you should have a very sensitive, very "deep" capable pinpoint signal. Since I discovered this, I've had NO problems with a "cold" pinpoint, in fact I'm certain it goes deeper than ANY of the previous pinpoints prior. It really does work well, and I'd appreciate all those reading this to confirm (or reject) this procedure while actually out afield detecting.
As Bill(OR) has explained many times, the sweep the target left to right to find the center, and once on the center, draw the coil back towards you and the signal should disappear right when the target is directly below the front edge of the inside (receive)coil.
Give it a try, feedback appreciated, especially for the beach users, I'd like to have the utility of this procedure proven in as many varied conditions as possible.
Thanks,
DAS

I also found when field testing the 250, as did Andy Sabisch, that the 250 will detect some targets deeper than it can pinpoint them, for whatever reason.

and see if it won't get a little deeper for you.
Yes, I still agree the pinpoint is still not as deep as the swinging signal. You had a Garrett name for that extra depth while swinging in one post somewhere, what was it called again?
Thanks,
DAS
