HO! HO! HO! "Half" a Christmas Present!

Forgive the corny title! Hope everyone got what they hoped for this Christmas.

The weather's cooperated greatly around here lately, so much so that I was able to hit my favorite park the day after Santa came. Little did I know he was going to come again on Monday.

I had hunted for a few hours with some success- 1899 & 1908-D Barber dimes and 4 Indians, and I was headed back in the direction of my vehicle, as I tracked through a heavily hunted and trashy area.
I picked up the sound of silver among the rubbish and it pinpointed pretty solid at 6 inches. Cut a plug and stuck the digger in to move a couple of inches of dirt and before I even stuck the X-1 in, I saw the big, round edge of silver.

I pulled it out carefully and saw the eagle on the bag and of course the heart started to race, as I knew it was a Seated Half! 1854-O, in decent shape. There was an original gouge on the back, and of course I hit it with my digger, on the reverse at the H of half.
Regardless, it's my first seated half and a great Christmas present.

HH All,

Jeff in Mass

Very nice finds Jeff,
After I hit a few of my coins with the digger I was convinced to get the X1 Probe on my EXPLORER XS and have not nicked one since.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS and keep'em commin

I can't believe that a find like that popped up at that park considering how hard it has been hunted. Merry Christmas. That's probably a once in a lifetime find. Take care buddy!
