Hmmmm is there really an advantage to the DD coil???

According to what I've read about the advantage of the DD it seems something isn't quite right. Here is the illustration showing the advantage. So why when I scan a coin along either the right or left edge of the coil do I get a signal down to several inches?

I bought Detech 13 inch DD coil and test in my coin garden and I cant able contact Mercury dime at 8 inch deep but my Minelab 11 inch coil can so I am working on my Detech 13 inch coil!

Is that 8" Mercury dime buried in ground that is trashy? If it has trash around it that changes everything.

My coin garden is clean. I use all metal first before plant coin in my garden. 5 coins at various depth for my test to make sure that my machine is good.
