Hitting the hills for a silver fix...

Abandoned ski hills that is. Struck out in the water today so Rick and I went to a nearby abandoned ski lodge and spent some time on the hills. It was hot in the baking sun and we didn't last long but it was time well spent.

Here's the silver...

Here's some coins found on a previous trip to the same lake.

The slopes down here won't let anyone on them. It's not what you think......the guys that work there are hunting them and tend not to share their sites. Looks like you guys are in the right place!

Tony,

That's too bad about the slopes down there. Not much you can do if they are private. I have hunted a municipal ski area a time or two but it gets hit hard.

This place was a pretty good size operation when open but could not compete with the big dollar resorts that sprang up in the late 60-s early seventies and eventually closed down. I'm actually surprised it is not hunted out. When we first hunted it a few years ago there was still silver in the parking lot. I like hunting the old ski hills because they have a good percentage of big silver. A good portion of the silver halves I have found have come from ski hills.

I have in my research 3-ring binder an abandonded ski slope not far from home we have yet to try yet.....from the looks of your finds, seems like that was a mistake :stars:
Hopefully I can find the info again.......

my detecting has been curtailed for a while. I have pinched a nerve or injured a disc in my back and have some serious pain in my right leg. The anti-inflammatory drugs seem to be working as it has improved somewhat overnite. I sure hope it is minor and heals on its own.

Good hunting

Tom
