Hi everyone, just wanted to share a pic of some of the nicer things Ive pulled out of three different sites that Ive worked over before. I havent been findinag a whole lot lately, but been having a blast of course trying!
The SLQ is a first for me in a way, its the first pre 1925 SLQ Ive ever found with a readable date! Pretty darn happy to see that. Thats also the second SLQ I pulled from this site, which Ive never done before. the site is some old outbuildings in a tight area but far away from the original house. the original house is now under asphalt.
The barber dime and V nickel (1906) came from around the foundation of an old home or some kind of structure. the coins here are 3" deep at the most, but its iron and junk infested. ive mostly found 50's era coins in the past so these two oldies were nice.
The large cent has a story behind it. I swpet my coil over a log that was about 8" in diameter or so. I got a really good, strong reading, right over the top of the log, and my coil was so far off the ground I thought for sure it was a can or some kind of large aluminum junk. But it sounded so good and at this site you have to respect EVERY signal because this site has given up very old coins and things. So I couldnt move this log and i start digging near where the signal was coming from, digging, digging, undermining the log, finally a button pops out. i thought hmm....a button shouldnt read that good! i swept over the dirt pile i excavated and got that sugary sweet high tone! and then out from the dirt pile came the black/brown disk and i was like "i know what that is!, sweet!". thats the fifth largie ive pulled from this site.
i will say one thing about these types of sites and my mentality with the etrac, is that if there is one thing that helps to find coins like this is PATIENCE. The more patient you are, the more good readings you will notice. I have become a lot more patient and that helps me to not get frustrated because i know that theres possibly good coins in the dirt. Once I start to get tired and my patience starts to wear out, i know i will not be able to concentrate as well and then ill only find the "easy" stuff.
