Hit the local park and fair ground

Hit an old park today I'm sorry to say no silver turned up. Just some clad pennies and ancient nails. They had carnivals at this park for thirty years so it's basically pull tab city. This is a old area too. If I had to guess I bet there are at least three wedding bands hidden in this park somewhere. I'm buying a clicker counter off amazon and intending on visiting this park and digging 200 targets a visit until the elusive gold shows up. Has anybody else ever decided to go after a trashy area in this type of manner?

That's all I hunt is fairgrounds mostly watch your target trace on nickles your box will fill almost perfectly square and on tabs you will get a box with a smear a little outside the box saves me from digging to many beaver tails the only ones I have been digging lately are the folded tails.Take your time your not going to clean it out in a day if you get a 20 by 20 area done a day your doing good.Just do it right and you won't have to worry about doing it again till the 6060 comes out sube

My last ring from what I remember did not come in as a solid square, it came in at 12:25, with just minor smudging/tail on the left side of what would of been a perfect square otherwise. Could of been something in the hole, could of been the way it was in the ground, could of been the depth, it was prob 7 inches, 1945 class ring.

Class ring is not perfectly round solid have a little smear nickles are round and if in the top 4 inches are going to give a good solid square, tabs are not round they have a tail I'm talking beaver tail except the folded ones give more trouble. Then again angle off coin in ground will change It to but if it's 4 to5 inches it's going to give a pretty good square.Anything that smears a lot I don't dig this is in the first 4 to 5 inches.sube

I don't know how much credence I put on the shapes. I imagine the ground monetization could effect it or depending on how the target is sitting.

Depends on the angle you hit the target nickles hit pretty much the same both ways hard in the first 4 to 5 inches beavertails hit with different #s from 2 different ways except the folded onea can give problems.sube

Howard: I like your plan. I've been wondering just how many targets I'm retrieving in a hunt. I've been hunting some real trashy spots lately that are full of tabs. You got me thinking so I counted trash and good stuff from yesterdays hunt.

141 targets dug in about 4 hours: This was steady hunting and digging - pretty tired at the end. I'm thinking 200 dug targets would be about max in a day for me. Hips and knees are starting to complain. O.K. I could probably do 200 in the morning and 200 in the afternoon maybe if I was digging some good stuff.

Yesterdays Tally:
32 coins all clad. :veryangry:
35 pull tabs or parts of tabs square beaver tails mixed (more square than beaver not a good sign).
32 iron junk nails screw caps etc. ( some still fool me with good 2-way signal and good #'s)
9 foil
7 screw caps
21 high cond. junk brass-copper.
5 relicy items 22 brass costume jewelry etc.

Sube: thanks for the tip on the target trace on the smear outside the box. I will give that another look. Anything to save some effort on worthless digs. I dig a lot of these 12-20 signals cause I found a gold ring at 12-21 so now I'm hooked.

HH

FYI I was using the 6" coil in this area and did find more than a few coins co-located with Iron and I mean right on top.

Hmm maybe I should revise it to a 100 targets. But I know the good stuff is there and the other pounders ignore the tab signals and the penny ones.
