And here I was feeling sorry for you cause your Excal was playing up!

Nah, good to see you getting into it.

Yesterday I found 2 gold, 5.2 gram 18ct mens plain band and 3.6 gram 9ct girls band with a couple of tiny stones, plus one plain silver band.
Also $13.20 in coins.
Today only got a few hours in, battery went flat prematurely, I suspect its dying, cooked it a while back.
Only got the one ring, ugliest thing I've ever found.
I think its gold, right colour, heavy 8.2 gram and its stamped but cant read it.
Its in the shape of a droopy eye and on the outside of the bottom of the band it says "The baggy eye club Salisbury".
I googled the name and it appears to be a club of expat Poms. Have a major branch in the US. If the number of posts on their forums is any indication they're a BIG club, and like Poms everwhere, all they seem to do is whinge lol.
Also, one MEAN folding type knife, why on earth people swim with one of these.......
$11.20 in coins, 4 keys, sinkers etc etc.
Hitting it again tomorrow, fresh battery, will be in the water 10 hours minimum. God I love this detecting business.

Gudday to ya not so lazyaussie,
That quite an impressive little haul ya got there.
Went detecting today myself and all I got was a bridge spike:thumbdown:after 4 hours in the water.
Shame about the Excal ya own hope it will be fixed soon enough.
I'm not sure where you are from, but up here in SEQ we are expecting a cyclone in the few days so
the beaches should be cut severly.Party time.:clapping:
Might head up the coast and try the beaches, ya never know.
Keep at it mate, and good luck.
HH and cheers,
Aushunter:ausflag:

Very nice hunting!! I keep writing my representatives asking that they get rid of the dollar bill and make a dollar coin; and they keep ignoring me.

Thanks lazyaussie for letting me join you for the day. It's great to get out with another member and learn some new ideas and techniques, you've certainly been doing this detecting business for a long time and know your stuff.

For those who are interested I was using an E-Trac on the day and I always thought that $1 & $2 coins would register at around F12 C38 give or take a bit, but lazyaussie encouraged me to go All Metal and I immediately dug a $2 coin which came up as F1 C40, this just blew away all my previous ideas about where coins would register on the E-Trac.

Great day lazyaussie, hope we can do it again sometime.:super:

Yer too much of an easy touch mate! I bought my lass an Excal 800 and put 'er to work! She now goes and finds 'er own loot. Now, many times she fancies one I find, and that's OK, I maker trade fer it, savvy? Gold fer gold, that's the pirate way. I know some of you mates have to negotiate trips to hunt and that's how you do that, but I married another pirate and mine is good with it anytime usually, LOL! Just a thought, no worries!

Lou " the baggy eye club " man that's funny  takes a pom to think of something like that :ukflag: :poke: sounds like ya doing very well mate how ya finding the seaweed when i went out on sat it was thick as & out to about 12 foot from the shore line which sucked as i was going to hit the water.

aushunter stay safe & hope the beaches get cut up real nice for ya & don't forget to post all the great finds ya make.

tvr i love $1-$2 coins.

terry great coin count mate sounds like ya having fun.

Fortunehunter had a great day out mate  i counted up all the 5c coins when i got home i found 31 for $1.55  cant wait to see all the finds ya make from the other beach with ya new settings.

Gulf Hunter i"v got a deal with the wife she gets gold i get food :heh::inlove: my wife's pretty good on the detecting side of things i"m usually aloud to go out any time  i"d get her a detector but shes pretty busy with our 4 kids & gets bored easily unless shes finding gold every 5 mins it"s time to go home.

Hi Lazy,

weeds not too bad where I've been working.
Basically finished my spot off today. Will wait till after next christmas to hit it again.
No gold today, only silver, 3 rings and a tiny earring.
And $15.00 exactly in coins, excluding an 1882 half penny.
Hurt my back pulling my wetsuit on, and it doesnt take that much effort pulling a suit on.
This ageing process sucks!

Lou.

Lazyaussie,
Ya gotta get ya priorities right mate. Giving gold away in any form is a no-no in this house hold.
My wife is similar to yours and quite often thinks that I'm just collecting other peoples junk. She knows that anything good
that comes outa the ground stays with the finder.Just like GH say's. Anywho, love the gold ring.
P.S. to doindadiggin I'm on my way to battle the remnants of that so called cyclone,so come on Friday:detecting::thumbup:
Sounds like you guys get out a fair bit, I can only make it on weekends now, being married and with 2 little monkeys running around
keeps me pretty busy.
HH guys

Update on "the baggy eye".
Not gold unfortunately. At 8.2 gram she'd have been a ripper. Jeweller says the stamps are only hallmark stamps.
Bummer!
Never mind, had a dream run lately, see how I go now that my little spots cleaned out.

Lou.

Lou gold & silver is hall marked in pom land mate, get ya jewellers loop/magnifying glass out & let me know what the marks are & i"ll hopefully tell ya what it is where it was made & when it was made

Thanks mate.

These marks are TINY.
Thats why I could'nt read them myself..... even wearing my magnifying glasses and looking through a magnifying glass.
Just about need a microscope.
Do those jewelers loupe thingys work ok? Might have to get one if so.
If I can identify the marks I'll give you a hoy.

Lou.

Hi all today was my darkest day ,here we are a cyclone has washed away the beaches north of me so i scoot up to hit it only to be met at the steps by a security guy and he tells me no one goes on the beach, i said you are kidding mate this is crown land ,he says scram what had happened was a container ship had an upchuck and spilt oil all up the beach and our council had 3, 40 ton scrapers scraping the entire beach all four mile of it right up to the bank and down to the waters edge down about 250ml and carting the sand away ,bummer i cant imagine anything worse .terry in oz:ausflag::veryangry::veryangry::veryangry:

Doindadiggin you can kiss that one for a while for any detecting.
Bummer on that oil spill:thumbdown:
