Hit the 1800's farm again!........

I had about 2 hours before dark, so picked up where I left off the other night. I got a 52D wheat, a 45P silver war nickel, 2 clad quarters, a Hubly cap gun, and the last target of the night hard to see as it was getting dark. I felt with my fingers and was able to pry it from the side of the hole. At first glance I thought I had a large cent. Then I could make out what appeared to be a token. I went home and cleaned it up to find that I have an actual 1868 presidential campaign token! It is in beautiful condition! A little history behind it. It is a Seymour & Blair campaign token. They ran in 1868 against U.S Grant & Colfax, and they lost. From what I have seen so far on the net, it is a good find! :)

Keep telling ya ya need to get that light for your hat so you don't have to dig in the dark (sure hate to see ya tear up a great find by accident cuz ya couldn't see what ya were doing.

Thanks too for the history info. Never knew who ran against the ones who did make President - well before Eisenhower anyway.

can ya post a pic?

Dave
