Hit local new england beach today...

Thought the day was going to be a bust. Not to many signals at all despite the last two storms. Maybe 15 total. First decent find was an old buffalo nickel. Second decent find was a 1954 quarter. Quarter was completely encrusted. Found junk toe ring, not shown. Saw about 5 other hunters on beach...place hit hard often. Its a common spot. Anyway, here is "the best of it".

that baby is incrusted, better hurry befor they are all eaten up

Took me an hour to find a spot that produced even a penny. But, yea. Can't even read date on buffalo. I am just happy that the day was not a bust. WOT very heavy and had to switch arms. Not sure where I will go tomorrow. Might go back there and look for another low spot. Lotta competition out there today though. lol. hh an gl -Joe

Coin had basically no value, so I cleaned it up. Pretty simple to do. Dip in vinegar. Pinch between tinfoil for about 5 to 10 seconds. You should hear it fizz. Rinse with water, and scrub with baking soda and water paste. Repeat until its shiny. Keep in mind, you should check the value of the coin and rarity first. You don't want to do this to rare or valuable coins...they are worth more as is.

Thanks for looking. Always fun to find out a coin is silver. HH and GL -Joe

I also hit a local, hard hit beach and still found some nice things. I'm in New England, so all of the winter storms are churning up the waters and shifting the sand constantly.
Last week I found about $3.00 in clad coins and a 1936 Indian head nickel in pretty good shape. The date is nice and clear on this one.
This past weekend I went to the same beach and found another Indian head, this one is a 1935 and again in good shape. I also found a silver plated spoon, a 1941 silver quarter, and my first ring...and it's a gold one too!!!
I've had my AT Pro for about three weeks, and it is still finding me some nice treasures in the off season, on a beach that sees it's fair share of MDs. I can't wait until summer.
HH everyone.

Nice finds. I missed 3 targets. Just too deep for me to dig. 90% chance they were just bottle caps. But..they can sound same as a gold ring. Next time I will have big bucket. hh an gl. Welcome to forum. -Joe

Thanks Joe. I've been reading the forum for awhile, finally took the plunge and registered. From the way you describe things it almost seems like we are searching the same beach. I get some deep hits, very faint in Pro mode. I've dug about 18 inches and given up once or twice. I made a sand sifter out of 4 inch PVC pipe and some metal mesh screen, I'm hoping to give it a test run this weekend, if the weather cooperates.
I usually don't dig anything that comes up on my scale lower than 45, but a friend just told me that he read on here that some platinum rings register in the low 40's, so I have to start following the advice of everyone, and dig everything.
Another coastal storm today should change the beaches again......more finds are waiting. GL.
