I decided to switch coils and go with the 12"Hotshot coil and rescan the area I've already gone over before. I'm thoroughly impressed with my new MXT, I worked the coil real real slow and was able to sniff a few more goodies out at respectable depths. The DFX missed these but of course I was using a smaller coil at the time. Photo includes 2 .58 minies, left one still intact in dirt upper left corner of photo, found a couple smaller calibers,2 buttons, one is an eagle button and the other, a button back that says,"WATERBURY BUTTON CO." Found a cool looking reddish colored stem from a smoke pipe, second pipe I've found from this site, and a "whatzit" object on the right side of pic. Any idea??? It has a "manufactured" slit down the center about 1 1/2"long???? It feels heavy, like brass and was found deep! Thanks for looking!

Donny:
The MXT ID was RIGHT ON! Civil war bullets will register around +50 if it's a .58 caliber 3 ringer and around +40 for smaller calibers and +20 for small cuff buttons. On a DEEP bullet, say 7 inches or deeper, a .58 3 ringer will lock on at around +50 and never change, as I remove dirt and recheck target, it never changes number. On deep targets it will give a very small beep, you've got to listen for it very intently and when I look down at my graph it will say +50, BINGO! It's a .58 3 ringer 7"or deeper. Unlike my DFX, on deep bullets, it will register +85 at first but once I remove dirt and get closer to target it will register +50 when I'm right on it. All I can say is the MXT is very impressive on ID'ing. Hope this helps. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
