Hit another old site for a couple of hours and . . .

Hunted an old spot with a couple of other guys and they got a 1784 1 reale, and two Phoenix buttons.

I managed to pick up a few buttons. One is a two piece decorative button, that might have a silver face. The other is a very old flat button. I've recovered several flat buttons in the past, but this one is probably one of the more crude ones I've seen. Look at the way the back was hand finished as well as the outer diameter, probably a late 1600's to mid 1700's button. Also picked up a couple of nice musket ball drops, and a neat (and complete) two piece iron hanger of some kind.

Any ideas on how to clean up the iron hanger? I've seen some people who restore old cannon balls put them in the oven on the self clean mode and it takes off all the rust, not sure if this piece is too small to try that on?
