Hit 2 NJ beaches yesterday

Hit 2 NJ beaches yesterday. Lots of clad, usual junk and these 3 notables. Surf was pounding, some wind and rain, and a number of roadways were flooded ( which made the trip very interesting).

My brother found an 8 Reale also, his in very good shape.

I have to get a better camera. Mine is 7 years old and does not have a macro lens feature. Gotta get the better close up's like you guys do !!!

Hi JC,

Wow! What a great find. Out here in the Pacific NW that would be a rare find, although the Spanish were here fairly early. Hope you discover more of these great finds!

Best Regards,
Steve

JC, did a lot of sand get moved around? Were you there at low tide? Funny how the old coins came up but no gold. Jabbo

Jabbo,

Yes, very interesting that no gold was found. Not even an little pendant or cheap ring. My friend found a Buffalo nickle and some junk jewelry, but no significant gold.

Sand was moved but no major cuts. I think the high tides took away a few feet though, as we were in one spot were there were tons of nails and iron but lots of coins among them.

We started out early and hunted right through low tide, but most of the stuff was found in the wet sand and wet/ dry mix. We really didn't want to mess with the water, but I did venture into the suds a few times but it was pretty clean. Once we found the coin line and patches of targets, we just stayed there.

Thinking about going back tomorrow, but to different beaches.

A day after the past 3 NorEasters I hit the beach at Belmar. Last year the sand was pushed right up to and onto the street. Looked great, and I saw only one other detectorist there, then he left after a short while. I walked up and down the beach from the water to the street looking for hot spots. Well, I hardly got any signals and was hoping to find something, anything, even a pulltab. After 4 hours I called it quits with about a dollar in clad and zincs. No body there but me. Where were all the regulars who live at the shore. They must know something I don't know. The past 3 NorEasters I found no gold. Jabbo
