I can honestly say to each and everyone of you! At that moment you have the dig in your hands, whats the first thought.......besides WOW..........it's the trying to think of IT'S history! How it got there, why didn't someone else find it, and then playin little scenarios over in your head tryin to figure it out lol. Then take a ride further back to your history classes in school, and that's where the hate part comes in lol. I can't remember a person that loved the class, (except for the very few) mostly in the early years of the subject tho.

And now you are all lovers of history because, after all, the finds become a talked about thing and an ask about thing trying to satisfy the curiosity inside. Theory of course but...........is it wrong lol. I believe it isn't.

So a blond is driving the freeway, and she get's pulled over
Blond lady cop walks up to the car and asks for her license ownership and insurance
Blond driver fumbles in her purse, pulls out a compact, opens it and says, this is the only thing i have with a picture
Blond lady cop says ok, give it here
Blond lady cop says, well if i knew you were a cop I'd never a pulled you over.

Cheers to y'all and have a safe and wonderful Christmas with family and friends.

Yeah! Thats why being able to return a ring or some other object is special...you get to hear the backstory on how it was lost and see if it matches up with the theory your mind developed...

I found a girls class ring in shallow center field once...I theorized the girl was playing center, and lost it while throwing somebody out at third....nope, she went out there one night with some friends and they were drinking, and she lost it, said they crawled around in the grass trying to find it but never did...It is sort of strange when you find yourself in the same place that somebody else was only at a different time in history...detecting is like tracking somebodys footprints in the snow, only we can track people across long periods of time...

That's exactly it Mud, and it's fun to try to figure out the story of the loss. Good story on the ring loss there. I like how you say we can track people across long periods of time.
