Hipmount Bag - Blue or Black?

chemicalsno

New member
I was looking at the two and wondering what the difference is aside from the obvious color? Which one do you think is better and why?
I heard that supposedly the blue one fits tighter and is more water resistant, can anyone confirm or deny this?

If the only difference is the color then I guess it is personal preference.

I use the older blue bag. I never liked the newer black one . The blue bag does fit tighter and has a rubber coating on the inside. If you want to to close the top snugly when using ear phones you might need to use an extra strip of Velcro.

The blue one is much cheaper as it is the early model that used to come with the older Sovereigns. These were very tight fitting and at the time most would get the leather Sun Ray hip mount bags as they were made much better. Now the black one came with a nylon belt you can use for hip mounting or chest mounting and has a clear waterproof flap that covers up the control box better in case it rains as it is well protected, it also is made out of heavier material with Minelab in a rubber like material on the sides of it. This black one also came with a large piece of Velcro that could be taken off so you would also mount it on the control box while it was on the shaft too so it also acted like control box cover, a hip mount bag, a chest mount bag and has its own nylon belt, by far very Superior and why it sells retail for around $50 while the early blue one sells for around $9

The blue one doesn't actually fit.......... the flap bit anyway, its useless to keep out the rain........presumably it was designed by someone who never thought that people use headphones. I chest mount anyway so if its raining waterproofs will cover it.

The top usually annoys me and I use a short bungee to strap it open unless it is raining to really windy.

Thanks, J

I prefer the blue one as its purely hipmount and closes well, no slits(even if covered) to let rain in.
Pass the headphone cable up through the hole at bottom if your having probs closing it, the 90

The blue bag is available here:

It is in Australia though.
