Hip mounting the Ace 250 with pictures

I called Garrett and purchased the cable and connectors. Small nail pouch from Lowe's. About $25.00 invested.

I like mine the way it is from the factory. Looks like to many wires with the probe and all. I like to be able to sit it down and move away easily. Just give me the stock 250 and a Vibra probe.

It's for sure not for everyone. I didn't think I wanted it but after removing the head and swinging the coil I couldn't believe how lite an already lite detector could be. Also by attaching the Sunray with the weight all the way back it is almost perfectly balanced. I guess I just like to tinker. Take care.

The cable was 15.00 Then about 5.00 shipping. Garrett just cuts the cable off of rejected coils so that's why one connector is installed. Garrett doesn't solder on the other connector but will sell them to you.

When you ordered the cable did you have to ask them for the other plug or did they send it automatically? When you removed the box from the shaft is the box tapped or do you have to get into the box and remove the nuts? Did you order this by email? Sorry for all the questions but I was thinking about chest mounting my 250. Thanks Ken

Just remove the two screws from under the rod. There are no nuts inside the box. There is no tape either. It just comes off in 5 seconds. You have to ask and purchase the connector. Just tell them as I did that I was hip mounting the 250. All they said was OH, OK well get it right out to you sir.
