Hip Mounting an MXT control box?

Is to hipmount the complete back of the rod..And Whites or Jimmy Sierra can supply the extra coil wire needed long with a straight rod that comes in a kit...Awful bulky at best and meter hard to see..With it wieight and exellent ergonomic design don't see why anyone would want to hipmount same except for perhaps shallow water wading..Sierra products did make the XLT and older Spectrum Eagle in a differnet box configuration for hip and chest mount but never heard of any for the MXT..Knowing some of the fellows that visit this forum hope someone has come up with one rather than the mounting of the complete top rod and box which is poor at best...

Because of the MXT's 4.4 lbs and dry ground this summer I kind of tore up my shoulder and I'm swinging left handed right now. Was just thinking that if my left shoulder starts giving me trouble, I'm either going to have to sell it and get a Tejon or come up with some other plan.

Are you talking about a Shadow? I've heard that they're alot like the Tesoros. I've run my MXT against a Tesoro and the MXT still can get a little better depth. I know I keep focusing on depth, but I hunt relics and caches and depth is all important when you're hunting old buckles or a mason jar full of coins.

The troy x5 is a great relic hunter at 2.5 pounds good depth if dialed in properly. Dan

I had an MXT that I did a chest mount that could be used also as a hip mount. Do a search on this forum for chest mount, May 23, 2007 by Steve in Idaho. There are pictures and if you need more info , send me an e-mail. I since have sold the MXT and have a Minelab X- terra 70.
