Hip mount

Ive got a good setup with the Xcal hip mount ive put together. I saw another one where they pistol mounted it (hanging down there leg from the web belt). I tried it today on mine ... adjustments were easier if you needed to, but bending down or in the water there appeared to be a lot of movement. At one point i noticed the nut connecting it to the belt had loosened. Anyone use this method in the water? how did it work for you?

& for me I didn't like all the weight pulling on my side.....so I went back to the over/under straigh rod..& when I get to old to swing it this way I may try the chest mount harness or just go back to the side mount down the leg.....Tab.

I tried the chest mount.... i felt there were to many wires in front of me and quickly changed to putting on a belt behind me.

for me Ive tried hip mounts,on the shaft, and a chest mount assy from plugger, i prefer the chest assy,if set up correctly, no wires get in my way, i can walk for miles down a beach to hunt,as i just did yesterday here in myrtle beach, if you know the Beach's here, i walked from cherry grove to windyhill beach its about a 6 mile walk, yes i was tired when finished, since I'm way out of shape, i ran into a findmaller by the name of Jim Roberts on the way, chatted with him for a bit then kept on walking, no gold on that trip just the usual clad and junk, but with the chest assy and my Camel pack and my rtg scoop i was set, its whats comfortable for you and only you, everyone is different as to there needs and likes or dislikes..
headed home in the morning, will be planning the next beach hunt..
good luck to all

I have my Excal on a plugger rod but I often chesmount my Sov so I can wade in a little:thumbup:

I have a pretty bad back and in looking for a way to get around some of the weight problem I tried the over/under setup, the straight rod with the behind the elbow mounting, the chest mount by Plugger with the straight rod, and finally went to the chest mount with the standard factory rod with a extended lower rod, also added a elbow support with a strap to keep it in place. Found this setup to be the best weight control and the least water resistance so less fatigue and found I could hunt much longer with out getting so tired.

I have not found any problems with the wires being in the way, biggest problem was with the straps in the back coming apart. Fixed that with two large safety pins.
