Anyone use anything to help with the weight of the MXT? I'm interested in getting something to help with the weight when I use the bigger coils. I have health problems that make it hard for me to swing the unit for very long with the weight just on my arms. Any ideas???

Hi---Go up to the Yank-Aussie Fourm and look at Doc's Items--Like the ( Swing Thingy ) Works good on my MXT with the 14DD coil. Will be carry it to Ganes Creek Alaska for some long hours next week. Hopes this will work for you. Take Care----Jack

The best value in metal detector shoulder straps is the "Detect Ease" device. One end has a suspender clasp, which hooks on your belt or pants top, over your back pocket, on the side opposite your detector arm. The strap goes over your sholder on the detector-side arm, and affixes via an adjustable strap to one of several places on your MXT. Most folks attach it 1) under the pod or 2) on the rod in front of the pod. Once properly adjusted for your heighth, the strap bears most of weight, and your arm merely guides the detector. The "Detect Ease" retails for $9.95. Hope this helps; HH Jim

DDLady-

The Hipstick is brand new-- made by NV Chris of Reno-- was $30 but I think the cost has gone up a bit- made for heavy machines like the Minelabs- but will work for the MXT- need a harness and belt for clipping to:

I'm making my own hipmount - the stem with Bigfoot coil weighs 38 oz and the box will be near parallel to the ground at the left hip (or right, if I was left handed). It does require the whites heavy 5ft extension cable ($30) and a special mount that I made for the belt. I Had shoulder surgery spring of '05-- I know what you mean. Long term damage is a real possibility in this hobby.
