Hip Mount or strait Shaft The Excalibur II

Hip Mount or strait Shaft The Excalibur I I ..............I found that Hip Mounting my GT was cumbersome, but The GT's control box is bigger than the Xcal's Pod .............But I'M worried If I Go with the Straight shaft, it will be to heavy to swing for 6-8 Hours at a time............ Any suggestions........Thanks Robert

Don't worry about the straight shaft.

It makes the Excalibur very balanced and easy to swing. Don't worry about the weight. You will get used to it quickly.

I've straight shafted every one I've ever owned and was not sorry I did.

The hip mount has a problem with the wires. Sometimes the wiring will go bad on a hip mounted Excalibur.

The straight shaft makes for a better detector than the factory rod for sure.

i have a straight shaft but ive chosen to hip mount my excalibur 2,i use a military 3 inch belt,it works well for me...jmo...:detecting::clapping::minelab:
good luck

i ordered the Over & Under from Anderson.think i will like this one.

I had wiring go bad on mine (a few yearsago) when I used the stupid original minelab hipmount, which had the control pod hanging down (like a sword ) from a webbing belt and this put stress and flex on the wiring. My wiring went bad in a few hours of use!!!
After sending my excal back to minelab and getting it repaired I then altered this crap minelab mount by cutting the mount tube shorter and drilling the mount (just a cheap bit of pvc tube anyway except it cost a wad from minelab!) and running two stainless bolts through it to a 2 inch webbing belt.
I now wear it on my lower back (acrossways). I got a tip from (gravedigger max) and used a piece of cord or in my case a short bit of bungy cord (6 inch) to tether the control wires (headphone and coil wires) were they come out of the unit so they are not pulled or under tension at the connection to the unit.

I tried 5 x to upload a pic for you but it wont let me.

ive had mine hip mounted for 18 mos now and ive not had any issues with my wires, now i am a electronics tech so i do take care of stuff like this...
i dont use the minlab hip mount assy, i did make my own from a 3 inch military belt..and some zip ties....ill post pics later to show but it has worked very well for me...

I tried this one first but it was too short for me and I didnt want to sink any more money into one of their longer lower rods. the beaches I hunt have a good slope to them so Ive got to extend the coil out a bit to get good coverage.

Hope this one fits you well Bling.

My new Excal II came with the same Anderson Shaft... I'm 5' 11" and find that it's just a couple of inches too shot for my liking.. It's a really nice setup.. I'll have to mod it to make it just a tad bit longer for me..

good Luck..
