hip mount for Excalibur ?

:(I have an Excalibur and I am having some back problems and was wandering if anybody is using a hip mount with there excal.I have read that it causes some problems with coil connection due to the constant movement. Is anybody using this mount and having good results. Thanks Mike

I use the hip mount all the time. I would not wear in the waves as the waves will slam into the wires and pull the connections out (in the water I put the unit in the shaft). I use a straight shaft minus mounting the control unit it to the shaft. To me it gives me more time out to hunt without being shot at the end of the day. I leave plenty of slack so there really is no stress on the connections. Hope this helps you.

i recently saw a picture of a chestmount for the excal, i'll see if i can find it.

sb :)

i have 2 ruptured disks in my back and have to hip mount every detector..here is mine and i can hunt all day with it!

Bling! That is cool. Out of the way and no worries about banging the knobs with your hands or scoop. I looked up the price of that thing and would've gotten one except I thought $12 was too much for shipping. Found two different dealers. One wanted $34.95 and the other wanted $39.95.I'll keep looking or make one similar. If you haven't fashioned a quick release on the front you might want to consider it. If you ever get knocked over or step in a hole it might be nice to have the option of dumping it to save your b*tt. I have suggested here and elsewhere that those of us who wade should wear one of those Coast Guard approved inflatable vests. I use one when surf fishing and almost had to use it when a sneaker knocked me on my b*tt. They are absolutely comfortable and do not hamper movement at all. I do not have stock in any of the companies selling the life jackets Regards...Jim

That's Good to know Bling. I found two dealers last night but darned if I can find them again. Do you know if any of the forum sponsors carry them. I might make another shot at getting one if they have that quick release safety function. Thanks...Jim

I found a dealer and oredered one on line. Actually I am after the battery backpack for the Minelab Nuggett series, not the one made specifically for the Excalibur, and figure i'll put my detector in there in the back like Bling's picture above. I may need to add the regular one also but really want the detector to stay in behind me and like that comfortable looking shoulder strap harness. Glad to find out Doc has them. I try to buy from forum sponsors but none that I could find had the battery pack for the 2100 selling as an accessory. Jim

i know you will like it..it is by far the best thing iv ever bought for detecting.do like i said and put the Excal hip mount tube (or make one) on the back and its great.i also use this vest to hip mount my GT and i put an SS O ring through the right plastic strap adjuster on the belt and dog snap my scoop to it and drag it behind me .also makes nice drag marks so you can tell where you been.

I just got the over the touche battery holder for the minelabe gold units to use a mount for the Excal. I saw the one Bling has a picture of a couple of posts above. They are no longer like the ones Bling got...unless Bling added the grey padding that one sees going over his shoulders. They are nothing more than nylon webbing now. Yeah! I can add that padding but both the picture that Bling shows and on the ML website, they show that pack with the nice padded straps. New information in case you were considering copying Bling's idea. Regards...Jim

i bought this one last year off Ebay.this is how it came.i just cut the batt pouch off the back and mounted the Excal hip mount tube in place of the pouch.i hope they still make them as i will buy a back up in case they do quit making them!

this is the one i have, its the newer version i think

I am trying to find one of those mounts for my Excalibur. Any information about where you found them and if you like them would be great.
Thanks.
