High pitched squeal

I've had the xs for about 10 months now...done pretty well w/ it, I guess. I may be one of the few that hunts in digital mode. There are some places that the most prevailant sound is a high pitched squeal with a digital reading of 31. I am sure this is iron, and I can knock some of it out by lowering the sense. I pretty much coppied Upstate Jim's settings (thanks Jim:) from one of his posts. I'm more and more hunting in smart find also. Is there any way to get rid of the squeal and still be assured of getting as deep as possible? Or is it kind of a trade off?
Thanks, HH Steve C
