High Pass Filters

I've been using the 5 band pass exclusively but seem to get about the same response on the 5 high pass. Is anyone using the high pass filters as something that Ak_1234 at White's said (just the last part of her message) stuck with me:

So if you have high frequency noise, a high pass filter will also accept that high frequency noise. But, you also get more signal, so it should go deeper if you don't have high frequency noise issues.

So, if we don't suffer from EMI then we should try the high pass filters for better depth?

I ask because I have been slowing my swing speed down and am looking for deeper targets around iron.

I have been running in the 5 high pass filter in the hi-pro program and I am getting super deep target 8 to 12 all day long running RX 12 - All metal 85 - Disc 90 and the Recovery 90 and the off set of + 2 and the correlate mode on with the 10x12 sef coil .:twodetecting::whites::thumbup:

I am using the High pass 5Hz filter exclusively now, as long as I am not encountering any EMI. In moderate soil I am finding it is slightly more sensitive, and giving more defined responses from deep coins. I am using the analyze mode(trigger forward) as a secondary live screen. I have it set to 5Hz band pass, so I can easily compare during the hunt. I found my deepest coin using this configuration, which was a Wheat Penny at eleven inches. You need a very steady swing, and slow pace to capitalize on this setting. Try using consistency set to "1" on your spectrograph in the Configure menu with this setting. Listen first, then watch...

Thanks for the info. I have run the trigger forward Jack and will do it again now that you mention it. It's a great way to check settings as you say. I like your idea on consistency to 1 as I have already lowered it from 15 to 6 and those bars were finally a bit more clear. 1 makes a lot of sense, it is not quite at what intensity is but perhaps a nice compromise. I have my fade rate at 2. I'm also going to play with single sweep back on as it was brought to my attention that the averaging was hurting my target ID'ing with all the iron flakes in my soil. (A nice benefit of making a video is others can see what you are doing wrong!)

Tim - I run my sensitivity (outside of AM) basically the same as you. But I have to play with the offset on some targets and see if it makes a difference.

I was doing some testing today with a dime and a nail buried in the same hole but about an inch or so apart. I tried all the different settings and the 7.5 freq. and 10 high band were able to hit it best. I usually run the 5 band as it seems to get the best depth.
