High-heels and kites - a silver day

Out with the Ace 150 again. Some BIG black rain clouds around but luckily they went in another direction. Temperature - 6C, so not many people out. Pic of a man with a fishing rod and reel and a kite attached to the end. Some others were doing the same.
What is always funny (well, for me anyway) to watch is that many of the women at the beach (and Mt. Fuji for that matter, but that is another story.) wear high-heeled shoes, making it is naturally VERY difficult to walk on the sand (and Mt. Fuji!).
So, today there was this young couple with a child. They were intent on getting to the sea but she quickly gave up and went back to the safety of hard ground (concrete). She obviously got bored standing there (more like freezing in a short dress!) so starting shouting at the other two to come back, they couldn't hear her though - even though they were very close. This is were technology comes in....out with her mobile phone and she calls the man!
Also watched another couple and the woman took her high heels off and walked across the beach. Smart in a way, but not so smart if she knew all the sharp things I've removed from the sand and all the others yet to be removed. OUCH!
Two silver rings today - on a fishing sinker in the pic. The equivalent of about US$20 in coins.
Warmer weather isn't too far off.......

Or is that beach that wide all the time. Is that money the current Japanese Yen?

But......did you send the kids to church so you could have the beach to yourself? Just kidding, I'll bet it was another great family hunt together. Great post!

Thanks John,
Oh no, there goes my fishing time, I'll have to detect every Sunday from now on!
No they couldn't join me this time, they went to a new indoor amusement place with their friends, my wife and others - I was the driver and the beach is nearby. I also really want to go there some time though - seems like they have virtually every amusement and sports game you can think of and charge by the every ten minutes rather than per game. It is open 24/7 so I can't see myself going there during the daytime when a detector (or, fishing rod) is just sitting around.
Elder son got a simple radio transceiver there but lost it somewhere soon after. I told him he should have had the Ace with him to find it again. LOL
Anyway, after coming home and thinking more about communications at the beach (and other areas), probably a good idea for us to have a transceiver each. If only for good basic safety reasons. But also the kids tend to leave a spot quickly to show and tell what they've found. Would be better if they just stayed put and kept hunting.

The URL has a bit of history about the beach and a simple reason why there won't be a shortage of those in the future.

Paul, yes, it is always that wide. At the shore there is quite a steep drop off into the sea along the eastern end of the beach. A bit flatter at the western end though. In a direct hit typhoon (on average a couple of times a year) the waves extend right up the beach. I estimate around 1m (a yard) of sand is now on the top of the original upper section of the beach due to the typhoons.
Yes, those coins are recent ones.
See the URL for what they should look if they weren't in the sand.
The new 500 yen coins are more brass looking in color than their pics though.
Also see their sub-menu link to Analyzing New 500 Yen Coin - Interesting they have no comment about the micro-lettering on those coins! Will post another link to give you an idea of what that is.
