high grass

Anyone have experience dealing with high grass searches? I may have a chance to search around an old house and barn before they are torn down, and want to make every second count. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Get a 3' by 3' board and lay in on the grass and walk on it to mat the grass down. You can swing the coil over the board moving the board to dig any targets you find. Just keep flip the board over to detect the next section. It is quite a bit of work this way but you can get closer to the ground than if you just tried to beat the grass down. This method is known as prairie surfing.

You can also use like a 4X8 piece of plywood or plexiglass. Cut about a 1 foot diameter hole in the piece and use it for pinpointing and digging.
