Just wanted to say Hi to all here at the Garrett forum. I have been doing a lot of reading here, and there is a vast amount of info here. My wife and I have been detecting for many years in a couple of states. We got our machines in Missouri, and now we have moved back to Arizona. As our children got older and became more involved in school activities, and the demands of work, the time for hunting seemed to go by the way side. Now that the kids are out on their own, we decided to blow the dust off the machines and begin again the hobby. We have found our share of silver coins and jewelry, and piles of clad. But its not the money value, although its nice! But I think that this is the greatest hobby. it gets you out of the house, and depending on what you are hunting for, out in the boonies where you can see things that most don't. My wife operates a Garrett GTA 1000 pm, and i use another brand, but wanted an other machine to use in case one of ours goes down. I did a lot of research, and reading here on the forum and decided on getting a ACE 250 as a backup machine. Well it came in the other day and we took it to a local football field, and I was amazed with this detector. Even though I have read raving reviews all over the net on this unit, operating it was pure pleasure. the pin point was different that i was use to, but it only took a couple of coins to get it down. Even though I had to turn the sens. down a couple of bars due to soil conditions, it was still hitting coins at 4 to 6 inches like they were on the surface. I am so pleased with this machine. It has the operation of my high end unit but at a low end cost. It will most likely not be a backup unit, and will be used a lot. It is light and easy to swing, and when it hits a coin its dead on and wont change its mind. My wife has used a Garrett for years and you could not get it away from her with a team of mules. Hopefully the rains will stop here and give some clear weather so I can get back out with the 250 and have some more fun with it. Thank you to all here that have put up the information that i used to get this machine, with only 5 to 6 hours on it I'm already hooked on it.

Welcome to the forum & good choice on the ace it"s top little machine you"ll find it hard to put down as it"s so fun to use.

Welcome to the forum.
Despite the fact that I own an Explorer and a GTI, they are usually the back up to the Ace! You're right. You can read about rave reviews all day, but it won't be till you take the Ace out, that you can really comprehend what it's capable of.
As an interesting aside. several months back; a poster over on the Explorer forum, asked how many folks owned an Ace. There were quite a few. That tells you a little bit about what you have in your hands; but you already figured that out. It sounds like you might have to buy a second one though.
Have fun.
Mick Evans.
