Hi Rob, VX3 ????

Well-known member
Hi I ask Rob but anyone can tell me if you know. What is the main deference in the V3i and VX3 or V3 for that matter. I have looked at the manuals and can,t see much of a change from one to the other. I have a VX3 on the way. So any help will help me. Thanks Flintstone

IN MY LINKS AT THE TOP OF THE FORUM YOU WILL FIND A COMPARISON CHART. Here is the link.

The electronics of the two are the same but the interface is different. Some of the main differences are the VX3 only runs in correlate mode, The tones can't be changed, it has fewer filters and no TX boost. It normally doesn't have the rechargeable battery system, doesn't have the wireless head phones and has the 9.5 concentric coil instead of the 10D2.

Checck the chart and if you have a specific question ask.

However you can have your dealer swap out the 950 for the d2 and buy the lithium ion battery for longer hunting times..the only thing i would change in the vx3 is the tones. I would rather have 7 tones but im ok with how it is..

Thanks guys, i was trying to read the manual and didn,t see that there was anything that was much different. Flintstone

Is the VX3 a great detector, YES. But that wasn't the question. If you don't need the features I mention it will do a super job for you.

There is a difference in a few KEY areas. In my modified Hi Pro program with the VX3 I couldn't run zero tones instead of discriminating VDI, I couldn't run in best data, I couldn't block my tones, I couldn't run 5 tones in ferrous and I couldn't have an analysis screen set up with a second filter. The guy I hunt with runs his Hi Pro in 7.5 and the VX3 doesn't have this filter.

The question was does it have differences. Yes there are all kinds of customizing features for the screens, menus, live contols, and colors but they don't really affect performance. I seldom use TX boost but it did help me find a silver 3 pence coin.
