Hi Pro

At the risk of asking a stupid question...what exactly is the "Hi Pro" program and what is its intended purpose? I'm looking to purchase a Vision in the coming months.

Thanks!

It will cause you to dig so many good deep targets you will want to start a ( hi protein) diet to maintain your stamina :rofl:Sorry I have a Vision but not a correct answer,Ray.

The Hi Pro program is what I use for most of my hunting that I do here in Oregon.

The discriminator is set to be right at the edge iron so all targets other than iron will be accepted. With this setting iron may sound off every now and then, but not enough to be concerned about.

The sensitivity levels are set to a good starting point for most areas that users hunt and they may even have to turn the Rx Gain down to 6 if in a iron infested area so the iron will not be chirp to the point where it is irritating to the ears. The pinpointing/all metal sensitivity might be a little weak for real deep coins but this can always be turned up on the fly as on a deep coin is detected as on the shallower coins I like a little less sensitivity to make pinpointing easier.

The recovery speed is set to 65 and this is where I can tell the differences in the length of the tones between a iron item (high pitch) and a good target such as a coin.

Also the HI Pro program has a faster ground tracking speed as the place where I hunt can change fairly quickly in ground mineralization (Phase and Strength) so a faster tracking speed is required.

The Tones are set up for Tone ID and VCO for pinpointing as this what I use when hunting,

The Live control bar is setup to give access to controls that I may want to change to such as the Search Audio Modes, Search Display, Analysis Display and the Pinpoint Display. Then the others like Ground Tracking, Sensitivity, Frequency, Discrimination and Programs to name a few are there for quick on the fly adjustments.

This is the basic program that I have used for my type of hunting here in Oregon as I mainly do coin and Jewelry hunting and then once in awhile relics. But I usually end up digging most everything but iron in my general hunting areas.

In a nutshell...it throws a lot of fast info at you with lesser discrimination, fast response times and a fuller audio set. It can be a little intimidating at first but gives you a real good picture of what all is effecting individual response signals. Once you are even moderately comfortable with it, your ease of target interpretation increases dramatically. Don't expect it to act like a "hand holder", use to learn it frequently and learning other program responses patterns becomes easier. (I've just began to get into "the zone" with it and have found good targets in amongst moderate trash well.) Larry has used it a lot and is probably the go to guy, for the best feedback.

Hi Bob

Would it make much difference turning the Tone ID in the Hi pro programme off? i always found with the DFX tone off gave a cleaner deeper signal.

I notice the prospecting programme runs at 22kHz good for small silver and gold would it effect the programme much turning the all metal off all the other settings seem great and what would you consider the best coil chose for 22khz the D2 coil or the 10x6 ?

Regards Shaun

Turning Tone ID off will should give a cleaner sound if the deeper targets are starting to break in sound. But as long as you are aware of what the break up in sound is doing for say a certain target giving a medium high medium tones and all positive numbers on the VDI vs. a solid tone with a little break up in audio then having Tone ID is fine. Again it all comes down to user preference on what type of audio response they want from the targets. For some people Tone ID is a love hate relationship... either they really like it or they hate it. Hence it is nice to be able to have a choice and set the detector up to what you like.

As for as the Prospecting program it comes down to a choice again and most people that prospect, like the 6 x 10 or the 4 x 6 coil for that type of hunting. As the dd coils deal with mineralization much better than a concentric coil and most gold is found in these types of areas.

By turning the the all metal mode off in this program and turning the discrimination on then basically you will be hunting only in the 22.5kHz mode but the Live Control Bar is set up for prospecting so some adjustments will be need if on the fly control is desired.

I hunt about the same way as Bob and this is pretty close to what I have hunted with on the DFX. The only change I have messed with is the filter. It seems that I get better depth with the 5 Hz High pass than the stock 10 High even though I have highly mineralized ground. I have a history of digging just about everything in the non ferous zone that sounds good. I dig a lot of junk, but I have some very nice nice finds as well.

With all the information on this great forum, i feel i will know this detector inside and out by the time it arrives in the UK, i see the company with the letter M have bought out 3 new machine's again, they all look average compared to the Vision
