Hi, New to this forum and metal detecting. I have had my 70 for 2 weeks, had a cheap bounty hunter (101d I think) which I still have but loaned out to a friend for now(Think he is hooked now). I have been reading lots of posts here, great info. Learned a lot from Digger and some others. I have been getting tools together and learning the detector. So far I have found 2 gold rings, 1 silver colored ring (not sure what it is yet) and about $5 in clad. Also found a Chuck e cheese token and an AA coin. I ordered a 6" DD HF coil as I hunt some pretty trashy areas and also highly mineralized soil, should get it in a couple of days. I built my own digging knife out of a file and I built a sand scoop also. I will try to post some pics soon.
I have spent a couple of days nugget hunting but no luck with that yet, determined to find some. I am still learning the machine, feel pretty good with it for coins and jewelry but nugget hunting seems to take a lot more patience and research. I live and work in and around gold producing country so I know its here, just have to find the right spot and put my coil over it. I am hoping the 6" DD HF will help.

The 6" DD HF coil is excellent on small gold, so if there are any nuggets or pickers in your area, it should find them.

WOW!!!! 2 gold rings in 2 weeks is a great start...The 6"DD will most definitely up your finds..good luck /HH

Thanks for the welcomes, I got lucky on the rings, found a sledding hill no one had detected as far as I can tell. I still have more of it to check, ground was frozen in some places and now new snow so it will have to wait. Maybe some new stuff will be deposited before I get back to it. I get the new coil Wed, looking forward to trying it out.

Welcome to the forum. And. Congrats on the finds. I hope to be ordering a 6" soon as well. Hit that sledding hill hard and from different angles. I just discovered one as well and I noticed if I walk up the hill backwards it helps slow me down and feels like a better angle. I also hit it from the side and found I have passed stuff from one angle. Also if anyone else plans on hitting them up hit the ones in town parks. Ones out in the middle of no where people usually dress for the occasion and leave goodies at home.

It will take me quite a while to work the whole hill. The area has a fair amount of old trash and now is covered with needle cast and forest litter.
