Hi-Fi headphones for the Explorers

Setting aside the issue of durability...focusing STRICTLY on sound quality....Using a set of newer Auvio "on ear" headphones, it seemed to me that there is a dimension to the audio on my Explorer2 that cannot be reproduced via my Killer Bs. It is as though the sound card in the EX2 is very "musical",the sounds have depth,layering...whatever it is,the Killer Bs don't have that kind of smoothness and range. Now...I've never USED the original headphones an Explorer came with,so I don't know the manufacturers intent with how the user is supposed to hear the signals. Being a semi-pro musician I do relate to things with a musical quality, and these Auvios really brought out a dimension to this machine that I'd really like to explore. I've used crappy Calrads, the Killer Bs and now the Auvios. I understand and can work around ALL of the other issues of using Hi-Fi headphones with a metal detector,I understand the downfalls completely, really. Who is using musical headphones with this musical machine? Do you find the tonal representations to be more informative with Hi-Fi? I certainly do!!
On the same "note"...I would suggest Explorer users at least plug in a set of Hi-Fi headphones just to hear the difference between them and your "detector" phones,if you haven't "gone there" already. It's pretty cool, even if you're not going out in the field with them.

Those were the only "metal detecting" headphones that I have used, and they definitely did not have the fidelity of even cheap consumer headphones. I suspect when machines were pretty much beep or no beep it did not matter too much. I can't remember the specs for the Explorers off the top of my head but even the highest tone is not hugely high frequency, but I suspect some of the detecting phones seriously attenuate frequencies in that range.

I have only used the KOSS that came with the EXP II so I can't comment.
What model Auvio are you talking about - there are too many when doing a search

Big T-Don't know, they don't have anything on them, which means they're high quality!:pinnochio They were like 30 bucks,if that helps any. What I really want is wireless, because it cuts out the issue of the chintzy cord that most consumer phones come with nowadays. I REALLY don't want to be tethered to the machine anymore. I love my Killer Bs,they've been bulletproof and such. They do need new ear pads, mine are pretty cracked from hundreds of hours of use. I'll only do it if there is a true audio based benefit from doing so,I'm not going backward in terms of signal determination to be wireless. Just wanted opinions...thanks guys!

My choice was the Sunray headphones, not sure if they are still made or not. They had a higher quality of tone vs the factory headphones and were quite comfortable, covered my entire ear vs squashing my ear. I didn't care for the Grey Ghosts tone or the vise like grip on my skull.
