Hi everyone

I have been reading the posts here for a while now and am trying to learn how to use the Ace 250 I just bought. So far I haven't found anything but junk but I am hoping. I'm having a hard time with it but I'm sure I'll get it eventually. If anyone has any tips on how I can learn this machine I would be grateful. After reading some of the posts here, this sounds like a fun hobby/addiction and I'm sure I will be doing more of it once I find some suitable ground to hunt. Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and I'm sure I'll learn alot from you guys.

im still waiting for my new 250 plus accessorys, from what ive read read the manual front to back then go use coin mode, 50% disc----- (4-bars) and dig up everything for practice then go back and read the manual front to back again--at least thats what im going to do when ever it gets here--ive read also you have to use it anywhere from 40 to 120 hrs to learn the ropes i also ordered a book ( The New successful coin hunting by charles l gerrett good luck

Don't fret, we all started the same way - finding junk. Finding goodies comes with practice and experience. If you were to pick up a bowling ball for the first time in your life you wouldn't expect to bowl 300 would you. :)

You have to hunt where the coins are as you can't find treasure where treasure ain't. Where are you hunting?

I've been hunting playgrounds, old lots, where I work (a farm store at least 75 yeears old), and my backyard up until I discovered that my house was built on an old dump site! I can't get a clear signal here at all hardly So now I just dig the odd test hole at random(there is always some trash there) and look on the surface alot. No coins yet but I did find a .50 cal rimfire bullet casing, a .50 cal round ball, and a quartz projectile point. I'm not sure where to hunt around here. Most of the places are private property and the people are kind of rude for the most part. Big farming community here so most of the ground that doesn't have a house on it has a crop of some sort or cows on it. I'll keep looking. I may have to leave town to find anything!

Don't fret digging junk. The better detectorists dig a lot more junk than actual treasure! The key to finding treasure or what I consider treasure is putting your coil over it. Sometimes that takes a lot of research and more than a little luck. I recently hunted a "hunted out park" and found a lot of clad coins and a ton of junk. And oh yes, a gold ring! Monty
