Hi Everyone
My name is Neil and I am new to detecting just purchasing my first detector tonight.
I have been visiting your forum and reading with interests all your posts. I live in australia and have just purchased a MXT from Kellyco which I have read about in posts, they seem to have a good reputation.
I have also ordered a Eclipse 6x10 DD coil.
I have also heard these mentioned a lot on the forums though not 100% sure when to use this coil but will soon learn.
There are also other accessories including a pinpointer which i will also have to find out how to use.
I shall keep reading the posts on the forum and when I get detector in my posession I will hopefully be able to tell others of my finds.
Cheers from AU
Neil

Welcome to the forum. Lot of good info on this site as well as good folk. You made a good choice with the MXT and the 6x10 coil. I usually have the 6x10 coil on my detector 90 percent of the time while hunting places like sports fields, playgrounds, just about anyplace you can think of, as it is really a versatile coil. Good luck with you new detector and keep us posted on your finds. HH Dennis in Idaho

Great to have you as another member of the MXT crowd. I'd use the 6x10 most of the time. The stock coil is very good for areas with very little trash.

Good luck with your MXT. Be watching for your finds.

Hello and welcome! My brother is in Australia working as a consultant for an oil company there. I just received my MXT-300 today from Richard here on the forums. Man am I excited! It is exactly as he described it. I think you may be looking for a Sunray DX-1 probe to go with your MXT (mine should be here this week). Good luck and I will find out where he is exactly in Australia as he moves around alot. Maybe you can show him how to use your new MXT and he can take a bunch of pics (he is a great photographer). I will PM you later when you have this beautiful machine in your hands.

HH!

Welcome, I have to agree with Dennis I use my 6X10 90% of the time. Its also a real good gold detecting coil.:whites::thumbup:

Welcome to the forum Neil and purchasing your MXT. It's a great machine and I'm sure you will love it. We are always wanting to see finds on here from other detectorists. We'll be watching for your posts. Don't forget that there's a lot of wonderful people on here with lots of knowledge of the MXT if you need any help. HH to all, Nancy

In my opinion the MXT is the very best all-around detector available today. It took me about three months to get used to it and start to learn its "language", so don't get discouraged with it. After several years, the more I use it the more I like it! Its capabilities continue to astound me.

If you detect in really trashy areas you might want to invest in a really small coil. I use a little 5" Excelerator DD from Kellyco almost exclusively, and it works miracles separating the trash from the good stuff. Also learn everything you can about Prospecting Mode. It took me three years to discover its secrets!

Good luck!!

Marc

So very true Marc. It's one heck of a machine and you can't beat the relic mode. It's got a "special" language, and once you learn that language.............You've got it made!!!!

Marc, I think I remember when you were trying to make your decision of what detector to buy. Glad you got the MXT and like it. :clapping: I love mine! HH to all, Nancy
