Hi everyone,Can I introduce myself as a new contributor to this Forum,I have had trouble looking for a good place to read up on Fisher related things until I came across this!Great site,!
I am located in England , and have dabbled with detecting over the yrs ,but only with a Joan Allen, and a C Scope detector on my farmland during the last few yrs,but laterally have been involved with aviation archeology, and recently I bought a second hand Fisher 1265x off a local lad,via E Bay.It was only

Huffiee,The 1265x is a very good unit. I would take the detector to someone who repairs metal detectors. The problem with buying a used detector you never know what kind of problems your going to encounter. At this point you may want to get an estimate from a dealer to see if its worth fixing.

Cheers Ron, Perhaps I,ll keep trying it out for a while, see where I get to I suppose. A friend of mine knows a lad with a 1266x,so mebbe I,ll swap the coils over to see if there is a difference, when his mates not looking!:nono: Do you know what the holes are for in the units box? Surely they were not there when it was new? Looking at the front from the top of the unit there are 2 close together in the centre and 2 low down to the side, and someone has taped over those. I sumise that possibly they have been used to mess about with the pcb screws, whatever they are.Perhaps I can get a circuit diagram for it somewhere on the net? Thanks again anyway, its a nice thing to use and it seems to discrim ok,even though its a bit flaky.

Huffiee,The coil swap would be a good place to trouble shoot.Down load a photo on the post and this would give everyone a better idea than a verbal discription. You don't want to invest more time or money in a unit than it's worth.Worst case scenario sell it for parts, which now you'll find out if the coil is good or not.Put the 1266x&1265x control boxes next to one another and compare. In the Metal Detector Forum section at the beginning there is a post about metal detector manuals down load or open the Fisher 1265x and see what the differences are.
