Hi All

Hello......

I wanted to pop my head in and say hello. I have mostly been a user of the Sovereign Elite and DFX but I am in the market for a new detector and Fisher has really caught my attention. I have been looking alot at the Coinstrike and thought I would jump in here and see what users had to say about it compared to the CZ-3D. I am the coin shooter type of guy with the ocassional relic and I am definitely a dig it all sort of dude. Discrimination is my enemy.

It seems to do well in iron infested areas and the target ID seems to be fast. How is depth? I guess more specific, how is depth compared to the CZ-3D? I can't say I am really concerned with visual ID at depth since like msot of you seasoned detectorists, I go by sounds. I am really thinking of getting one but thought I would ask opinions here first. Thanks all...........Joseph

If old coins are your bag, then the 3D is your machine. I have been using mine for 2 years now and have really enjoyed it. I hunt mostly around pre-1900 homes/homesites. I highly recommend the 5" coil on the 3D for this kind of hunting as well. I have the 5,8, and 10.5" coils for mine. Plus I have the Sunray FZ-1 probe. This combination makes the 3D versatile for many different kinds of sites. It can serve well as a relic detector. You just have to dig the mid-tones as well for that. I have no experience with the Coinstrike so I can't help you there, but my main goal is old coins and my 3D has served me well for it.

well, I will go a little further. I love the CZ5 & CZ70, but wasn't all that fond of. Not because it didn't exactly what it was supposed to do, but mainly because I hunt mostly parks & such and it wasn't great for that unless you like diggin a lot of trash. But if you hunt pre-1950's sites, it will make a fine addition.

PLUS, the Coinstrike, although a great coin & relic machine, has a pretty good learning curve. it took me about 25 hours just to keep from wrapping it around a tree & another 25 or so hours before I rally started pickin up what the C$ was puttin down. But I sold my original C$ and 6 months later bought another one because I missed it.

Thanks guys. Being a MInelab and Whites user the past several years I can't believe I ddn't pay attention to Fisher. I had no idea that the CZ's were such great machines (as silly as it sounds). Looks like I have some homework!

But yes, I do mostly hunt older sites and sometimes demos in that ever elusive search for the old coins. They are definitely my bag!

Hi Joseph.Since you have used the DFX,the Coinstrike will be easy.I find it a bit heavy myselfe.Take a good look at the ID Edge too.HH,Jerry(in Madera)
