Im ordering the V3i this coming week and need some info. I am up on Whites but other detectors not so much. Kellyco has the Bogo deal and no Whites on it. Could someone look and give me advice on what they have. I started with the 49er and now have the DFX after I retired. Im sure Ill have questions on the V3i. Thanks Everyone, looking forward to being part of this forum.

I'd just take a free jacket.:poke:

Rt66,

Welcome to this forum. With the V3i be patient & don't be intimidated with it... There is a learning curve with it.

Just start with the factory settings. Swing slow and dig everything.

This will give you an understanding on sounds, VDI nos. and the targets you dig.

There are a bunch of guys and gals that are knowledgeable that can help.

Good Luck,

TC-NM

Hi TC,

Thanks for the advice. I am assuming the tones and VDI no. will be about like the DFX. Rx gain up till unstable then back off till stable, Disc the same. I plan to leave the rest at factory settings till I get some time on it. anything else I need to do?

Ground balance will be different from the DFX so make sure to get a good balance.

Watch the Spectrograph. After a while you will get real good at spotting trash.

Thanks Rob and Daddyflea,

The ground balance is totally different. Im going to have to learn the Spectrograph, Its different also. Yes I bet so on trash, My problem is I know its a tab, and I pass it up for about 3 steps and then just have to go back and dig it, surprise its a tab:laugh: The DFX never lied to me on the VDI or graph but there is always the thought it might be a ring or jewelry. The last ring I found was a ladys class ring and it came in at 14 VDI and the graph looked a little trashy. I wasn't in a high trash area so I dug it. First thing that popped up was a nail, checked again and found the ring. So I dig most targets if there is somewhat of a good reading. Does the V3i do a better job on trash?

Not sure just have the V3i but I really like the 6X4 coil and it is great at discrimation. You can run the gains low without seriously affecting depth. Very little falsing. Filters make a big difference though. I can not run the 5s and 10 is too much 7 is just right as long as I go slow.
