HF Coil vs X35 Coil

Can anyone explain to me is the HF Coil Better than the X35 or are there different situations where the HF might be a better choice than the X35 or vice verse? Just didn't know if there was a need for both coils.... Thanks For any input much appreciated....

I don't see myself using above 27khz except on gold prospecting or REALLY mineralized ground. I have ORX and do like running in 28khz. It's quiet and still able to find a lot of stuff, just remember that on the Deus the higher the frequency, the more compressed the TDI range.

I relic hunt only and I use the HF coils.... If I coin hunted I would have the X35. I use the HF coils for relics because of the high freqs and they are a tad more stable in the higher freqs than the x35 coils for what I do.

Well I would say I'm more of a coin shooter but like finding buttons as well. I have both coils but have never used the HR Coil yet. I read Andy's book and there was a guy Todd that put his setups in there and I put both in my machine. His primary and his secondary which drops down to 4kHz to check and see if it's iron in the hole. I've used that a ton and dug allot of targets to verify it till I felt comfortable. Probably dug 30 rusty targets when it said to just walk away while testing.

If I put the HF coil on and switch to his secondary setup what will happen as that coil doesn't go down to 4kHz right?

What I heard is both coils are nearly the same electronics-wise.

The X35 will go down to 4kHz I have a program that utilizes 4kHz if I put the HF coil on and I switch to that program what happens? Does it go down to 4kHz or its lowest setting?

Hi,
the HF coil's lowest frequency is 13.3 kHz.

I have the 9" elliptical HF coil and the 11" X35 coil. Both coils are extremely sensitive. I have pretty bad EMI in my urban/suburban area along with moderate to high mineralization. I have had trouble with EMI and ground noise on the 11" X35 coil simply because of the bigger footprint. I have to run it at the highest frequencies (25 to 28 kHz) and turn down sensitivity so much (50 to 80) after finding the quietest frequency that depth is about the same on both coils. The 9" elliptical HF coil is much quieter due to its smaller size and I can run it close to max sensitivity in most places. So, unless you have fairly quiet EMI and low to moderate mineralization, the larger X35 coils may not make a lot of difference especially if you already have the 9" round HF coil. It will give you good lateral coverage for sure but a lot more interference and targets can fit under the 11" and 13" footprints. The lowest frequencies are just about unusable in my area.

I'll be selling my X35.

Hi,
I totally forgot to mention that I have the XP ORX. Your results may be different with a Deus. I also forgot to mention that the X35 11" coil is 5 ounces heavier than the HF 9" elliptical coil. With the ORX shaft assembly being much lighter than the Deus, I can really feel the additional weight of the bigger coil and so far the balance is not good. The 13x11 X35 coil is 10 ounces heavier than both of the HF coils. If I was going to buy an X35 coil again for the ORX, I would go with the X35 9" coil for the lower frequencies. It weighs almost the same as the HF 9" round coil.

Good info.

I have the 9"x35 coil on my Deus. Had it for about 6 weeks. Really like it.
