Hey you Excal superheros.....David & Mike specifically

I am still contemplating the straight shaft. Not sure which way to go Babbs or Dixie or is there a difference. Definitely want to mount control housing to the shaft, but am wondering about the positioning in the surf. Will I still be able to swing without interference. Keep in mind that I may sometimes be over waist deep. Called Kellco and they did not have a clue. Also am looking for a loop support of some kind. My loop gets real floppy. Have changed screw & washers and it gets loose after a few hunts. Maybe I'm pushing the coil down too hard into the sand. I'm hard on equipment. David has given me info before, but I misplaced it. Thanks guys!

Go to the straight shaft. Mount the unit flat under your elbow. You can feel some resistance underwater but nothing like the ridiculous original set-up. Never will understand why Minelabs did that poor bit of engineering. Just remember, Minelabs advertises that unit to be easy to to swing through the water as well as deep detecting ability. Now that should tell you something about the rest of their hype. I own an Excalibur, 2 CZ- 20, 2 PIs. The Excalibur is the last machine I reach for when going out hunting. It has the greatest resistance, is heavy, and has the least depth of the bunch. It will definitely tell you when an object is iron. It will find filigree rings that the others would miss. I only take it along when looking for one that I have been called to find. I think my area just has too much RF for it to tolerate.

I have the Bill Babs straight shaft and RTG 6" ALUMINUM ROYAL WATER SCOOP from Reilly's Treasured Gold
http://www.rtgstore.com/rtgaluminumscoops.htm
The all Aluminum Scoops have a tendency to want to float in the water but other wise I love it.

I just bought orthopedic crutch for $30 and drill few extra holes
The crutch is thin but stainless steel and very strong.

Wow, now THAT'S ingenuity!

I always tell folks "Remember, the metal detector isn't a crutch or a cane...it's not meant to put your weight on." I guess with that rig, you CAN also use it as a crutch if you want to. And the price is right.

A job well done, I remember the old yard sale pic from months ago when it was still black. She's come a long way baby.
Cars are expensive here and the roads are small and congested, therefore a bike is the best way to get around. So I ride a bike everywhere as opposed to a scooter which most people get around on.
My bike is 150cc (the black one) which is the largest allowable by law on the island, how funny is that? Maximum speed limit is 35 km/hr too!
The little scooters in the background are 50cc which is what the tourists get to ride (that would be you Gulf Hunter) and no licence is required.

Problem solved. Went with the David from Suffolk signature model "lightening rod" from Reilly's. It is now black powdercoated, which I think is real trick lookin' on the Excal. We must make a fasion statement right? Also went with new washers and a Grave Digger Max signature bolt & nut and my coil flop issue is GONE! I LOVE THIS SPORT! Thanks again all you pirates helpin' a brother out.
