is there a new Whites out or something?
makes me worried - i thought it was a rarely found item?

I feel there is those that just like to try them and see what they can do, then sell them and try a differnt one. Some will come back to the MXT while other will keep trying differnt ones.
Then there is a time will you will see a lot of one brand being sold, then in a month you cant find one anywhere. We see this in the Minelab Sovereign and the Explorers too, then it may be a lot of CZ 70s or even the DFXs.
Whites is comming out with a new detector to replace the classic series called the Prizim that looks to be a real winner, but it will be no MXT.

...........bought and sold many a detector. If it doesn't feel right to use, you won't be happy with it. Some detectors are just better in different areas of the US due to soil conditions. Most of us have more than one detector with one being the favorite.
My wife doesn't like the MXT, she likes the GTi1500 green machine. But, I think she is open to try a new machine.

that I finally found a machine that works for me.
I used White's for 20 years, went to the others
and used them for a number of years, got to try
out an MXT and was sold. I hunt in relic mode
all the time and the mixed-audio is a killer.
With a small coil, an iron signal with a high
pitch in it, is usally, a good target partially
masked. I have done great with this combo and
it works for me. Now I have a Brand XX super
machine and it doesn't work for me on relics,
coins okay. But I think a lot of people are sold
on the hype and try the machine out and find out
it's not for them or they chose to not take the
time to learn it.Most machines out there will work
great if given the time to work with them and learn
them. Best to you Richardntn

... in the he time that the MXT has been on the market (22 months) it has broken all sales records ever established for any metal detector ever sold. With so many MXTs out there, it is not surprising that a lot of them will be offered for sale. If you research the matter far enough, you may find that there may be 2 MXTs listed for sale for each top-end "brand X" detector also listed for sale. So, you might conclude that the "brand X" machine is more popular with owners, since fewer are listed for sale. BUT.... there may have been 200 MXTs sold for each of the "brand X" machines sold. The issue here then becomes a matter of RATIOS. Lots of MXTs sold means the potential for lots of them to be resold, Hope this helps; HH Jim

Well, you can add me to the list of XMT owners
I bought one from Jim McCulloch

A.. You hook up with a particualr model (of detector that is) and everything seems sort of "comfortable" and you have a long lasting relationship, sort of marrying the detector (or so your spouse might claim).
B.. Sometimes you do everything you can to maintain good feelings and try to get along and like it, but no matter how much effort you put out, the frustrations are just to great so you part company.
C.. Others might seem to get along just fine but their detector is sort of like a pretty little blonde who's fun to be with and date, but just doesn't offer the sophistication you were looking for (or thought you were looking for). So, in search of the dazzling brunette sort of sassy and smart upper-end model they part company with the one they have been spending time with.
In the end, we are all hoping to find the right one to hook up with. Our goal is to try and find an "A" grade detector for our needs.
We all seem to spend a little time with a "B" grade model and those are the ones we break up with and then warn others of why we don't like them.
Unfortunately, there seem to be a lot of "C" models out there. The one that we enjoy and have some fun with, and part company without any real hard feeleings, just thinking that maybe there is something with a little more to it out there.
An example is the MXT, perhaps. Fun to be with and it can really put out, but since it lacks a backlight or Tone ID or an 8" coil option or some other feature, folks part with them and latch onto something else.
Those "B" grade models are sort of the wallflowers at the dance. The homely gals or guys with pencil-filled pocket protectors that are often shunned.
The "C" grade models are the ones we remember. When some people part with the MXT and try another detector in a favorite site and become frustrated it's like taking the gal to a dance who outwardly appears to be just the ticket to make you happy, but her brain might hear a waltz and her feet are doing the Texas Two Step, and even then not in time with the beat!
While lugging this more expensive baggage around the field or meadow or desert floor (floor) you might know how smart she appears to be, but you close your eyes and enjoy the memories of that pretty little blonde-like model that was simple, easy going and you enjoyed having 'fun' with!
The Classifieds are filled with these models. Some like to date the models that sort of challenge them, at least for a while. There are the "B" grade FS/FT models that no one says anything good about unless they are trying to dump them!
Then there are the "C" models we see FS/FT, and often you will find that these cuties are "picked up" by an old friend who parted company, but on good terms. They are the ones who also have posted the WTB posts because they have dated a few and want to get their hands on the one they had fun with and let go, and want to now make their "A" model and settle down.
Some only want a mate to cook or to clean or to have kids or to work and support them. I am adding an MXT back into my arsenal this week because I know it has the versatility to accompany me most anywhere I want to go and share in the enjoyment of detecting in a variety of applications.
Monte
Of course, some of us still think there's some merit in polygomy, so we try to have 2 or 3 wives, I mean detectors, realizing that some handle certain tasks better than others.
