It's REAL country out/up here. Lots of hills & valleys. No snow, though. It's reall warm...in the 60's and it's raining. The pond's got ice, but it's real thin. If it stops raining I'll try to get some more photos of the outside area, the cliffs, hills and valley sorta thing.
The dogs did great coming up in the car. We got lots of comments on their good behavior at rest stops and such...especially since there are three of them in the back of a Grand Am 2-door.
All the dogs LOVE it here on the farm! Even Holly & I may lose a few pounds...there is no "flat" country on the entire farm. TJ is pretty freaked out over the geese, ducks, chickens, turkey and cows. But when he forgets about all the "monsters" he just keeps running everywhere just for the sheer joy of running as far and long as he can. At about 60 mph he stumbles into ditches, trees and bushes and what appears to be thin air. He'll fall over like he's doing a combat roll or something and just keeps going. Grandma & Grandpa seem to like Danny best. He's a blonde and a "dandy"...what a mush!
I've never seen so many lolling tongues before! At least they sleep well with all the fresh country air and exercise. Holly's an old hand, having been here before. Danny's just enjoying all the smells. The have something out here they call cockleburrs, so I spend a lot of time grooming coats before they can come inside.
Shelle's mom made me a mince-meat pie all for me for tomorrow. That's pretty cool...real Christmasy.
Grandpa (Doug) is the guy who's parents got robbed of all their real old jewelry in a house invasion (did they call them that back when?)back in the early 70's by two druggies. Supposedly they threw the antique jewelry away in the woods nearby the cliffs, thinking they were just costume stuff, when they were divvying up the stash right after. If you remember, they got caught trying to pawn some other stuff in the nearby town of Morehead and the items were recognized. These deadbeats supposedly took the cops to the area they thought they'd been in the dark, but nothing else was found. It's one of the reason's Doug got himself a White's Prizm V last summer to try and look for himself. I've tried to get back in there twice, before on previous visits. But it's as dense as all get out. Doug's tries to use a chain saw on the underbrush from time to time when he trims the nearby apple trees. But I'm not seeing a lot of headway, so far. I'm going to take a better look if it stops raining. I don't want to slip over the cliffs, that's for sure! You can't see them due to the brush, but Doug says they're only about 20 yards in. I told him if he ever does find any of it, to let me know and I'll help him take picturs and write up his story. Although it WOULD be kinda cool to actually find them myself! ...not to keep, they're family heirlooms and such.
Can't post any pics of the dogs and farm yet (cuz I can't download 'em) till we get back to South Carolina, though. The 'puter they have must be running off gerbil power & I have to type with a stone & chisel. It took 20 minutes just to get dialed in and on this site! Plust this thing has some sorta automatic disconnect, which is REALLY frustrating!
So, anyway, I don't think I'll get back on here till we get back home.
Take care and MERRY CHRISTMAS, Y'ALL!!!
We should be back in time for the football games on the 30th! Everyone take care.
