Hey Vern, here are a few pic's of the prototype TDI machine that was a relic killer at DIV..

It seems like White's has found a sucessful challenger to some of the other companies machines.
But is going to need to be a bit lighter though.

.... the color is likely to be black matte finish.

The new battery system will be a little lighter. We are suggesting they also move the housing attachment down the shaft a 1/2" to 1 1/2" to perfect the balance and change the attachment to be like the BHID so the electronics box can be more easily removed for belt / chest mounting. Actually, the way the TDI is now set up, it is very comfortable to swing so long as the arm strap is used.

Right now it is anticipated that two rechargeable battery packs will be provided.

.... that most all quality machines would get good to iffy signals on stuff within the first 3". After that the signal might be just a null out or warble of the threshold tone.

Craig was using an Explorer and another friend (very experienced Explorer user / relic hunter) was using one as well. I used the MXT. What really convinced me on the TDI in hot ground was it's ability to give a solid tone on a 69 cal 3-ring mini ball at 6 to 8" or deeper when the MXT and Explorers would not even respond with any signal or threshold tone.

Yea it was impressive..brought my explorer and my infinium...the infinium pi could read the same signals and depth as the whites pi but the response was much slower...he could detect circles around me while I was having to swing the infinium slow and deliberate...he was able to cover ground much quicker with pinpoint accuracy....equals more good targets .also the whites pi could tune out a square nails....Mr "b" said that he only dug 3 square nails the entire time using the new whites pi...that said better ground won't allow the nail to be rejected out all the way....... he was showing the explorer and mxt users where to dig ...now that is a humbling experience!

Does this means that low conductivity non ferrous targets cause a high tone while iron and high conductivity non ferrous tagets cause a low tone?

I did not have any opportunity to use the machine during the weekend. Go over to My Treasure Spot and in the Diggin Forum is where Bob can be found, you can pose your questions there and probably get the answers you are looking for.
