Nothing I can nail down yet but this information from Missouri looks like a possibility. The Missouri connection would be first choice at this time, and if it is a Missouri Confederate belt plate, it would be extremely rare. One or both men in the below photograph are possibly wearing the MVM belt plate, although officers usually wore the eagle sword plate. All I need to do is find a photo of it being worn by a Civil War soldier.

Hopefully the photo of it on the cover of American Digger magazine will solve the mystery.
