These are Civil War cartridges in non-dug condition.

These are .54 cal. Burnside carbine cartridges. They go in the Burnside carbine which was used by the Yankees.

These are .50 cal. blunt-nose Maynard carbine cartridges. They go in the Maynard carbine which was used by the Yankees and the Rebels. The Confederate cavalry liked these.
