Hey Uncle willy, a question for you..

How outdated is the electronics on a Treasure Ace 200 with a Crossfire coil? Ran across one today, still in the box, looks unused for $140 but I don't know anything about it. I have this 12 year old neice who loves my 250...and she has a birthday coming up.... I know I've seen some discussion about it on here before, but I figured I'd go straight to the guy who probably did the field test on it.

I did the test on the 300 ( about 13-15 years ago ) which is the top model and one notch above the 200. The MSRP on the 200 was $239.95 and dealer discounted it was around $190. The Predator series that Kellyco sells is the old Ace series in disguise if you want to check those out.
The 200 has:
Advanced ( for the time ) microprocessor technology
" TreasurEye target locator" ( which I wasn't fond of. It has no pinpoint control. ) but shouldn't hinder a 12 year old.
Full-range discrimination.
Adjustable depth and sensitivity.
battery alert.
Headphone jack and loudspeaker.
Surface mount PC board.
Two 9V batteries.
Optional coils available.

It's not a bad machine but wasn't one of my all-time favorites. Should give your neice plenty of practice in the art of pinpointing. You just move the coil around until the cursor in the "TreasureEye" is under the right spot and you're there.
Hope this helps. You might check Kellyco and see what their 200 Predator is going for.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like it might be a bit overpriced for 10 to 15year old technology. If it was around 200 then, 140 seems a bit rich. Guess I'll give it some thought before I do anything.
thanks again.

Might see if you can talk him down a few bucks. A hundred bucks would be more than fair for a tector that old that sold new for only 50 bucks more than his current price.. Might tell him what the original discounted price was Did you check out the Predators at Kellyco?
