Hi Travis,

Finally got enough gold together to purchase the X1 Probe, a place in Western Australia "Reeds Prospecting Equipment" are to sole Australian agents for them, ordered it a couple of days ago so it should be here next week, I can hardly wait. How are you going with yours? have you had a chance to get out and do some serious digging?, also what do they do with the cord from the main coil, does it run up the outside of the lower shaft or is it inside as normal, if it's inside I can't figure out how you would be able to extend or shorten the shaft, if you get time let me know.

All the best.....Boony

Hey Boony. I got it out for just a short time so far, but I REALLY like it already. It is kind of an "extension" of the machine, instead of it being a seperate probe that is aindependant of your detector.
As for the coil cord; your coil cord runs outside the lower shaft and conects to the X-1 control box conector now. It is mounted on the botom side of the upper rod, down about 5 inches from the detector head unit. The X-1 has its own cord that is run inside the upper rod from the X-1 control box to the normal connector on the detector control head. Hope this make since. The probe then mounts on the side of the battery housing and has a cord that runs to the X-1 control box. I will use this setup for a while, but I plan to mod the unit so I can again run the coil cord insde the lower rod, as I like the "clean sexy" look. I have spoke with sunray, and they will sell me some of thier cabling.

Hi Travis,

I agree, I also like the clean lines of the EX II, If you run the cable inside the lower shaft I would imagine you would have to cut a fair size hole for the connector in either the lower shaft (just below the Cam Lock) or cut a hole just lower than the junction box in the upper shaft. If the cable is brought out of the lower shaft it would restrict the telescopic effect of the lower shaft. If anyone on the forum has already done this mod perhaps some pictures of the mod would be very helpful. When my X1 arrives I thought I would make up a couple of Velcro Tapes to keep the main coil cable taped to the outside lower shaft at least for a while. That way it should make coil changes easy, however I would be very interested in some pics of any modifications that anyone on the forum has done.

Regards to all Boony

Boony, Me and another gent. on here were talking about this mod for awhile. One person cut a hole under the X-1 Control box large enough for the coil connector to pass through. I (and the other gent) were planning on making a small "extension cable". Drill SMALL hole under X-1 control box, then feed an end of the unconnectered cable through it. THEN put the conn. ends on it, and connect coil conn. to its bottom end, and other end to the X-1 control box.
