Good thing Royal built that guest suite huh?
This thing has been in the works for years. Political wrangling for what seems like forever. It's going to be very near our mine location. The guy that owns the current bridge ( The Ambassador Bridge and the only privately owned border crossing in North America) is now suing our gov't for gazillions. He wanted to add a second tier onto the current old structure. He invested millions laying out his plan and buying property on both sides of the creek etc. Probably just didn't grease the right palms. In either case, many properties have been expropriated and sit vacant. New roads, expanded roads, a greenway (of course) and lots more just on the horizon. The Detroit/Windsor crossing is the most vital link for transporting goods between our two countries so I'd say it's overdue. I was talking to guy not long ago about the money that'll be changing hands on this project and he was saying that jobs like this one are where a lot of crooked money gets laundered. He went into more detail and I tended to believe his story....but this was the jest of it. Been working a few extra hours the last few weeks. Every time I think I'm near the end of it, I get asked for more. Not complaining. The hardest thing about my job is getting here. Now working a steady 3-11 p.m. shift for a while. My choice. Nice n' quiet with not too many people around. Gonna go snoop at some of the other posts for a bit.
