Hopefully you can help me out, or at least point me in the right direction. I am trying to gain access to the photography pit at some professional sporting events. The team's web sites have a place for you to register on line to obtain a media pass. But all of them refer to "Accredited Media Members" in one form another as a requirement. What is an accredited media member and how do you become one? I spent a couple of hours last night searching the web for an answer without much success. Below is an example of Major League Baseball's web site to gain media access.

Hey buddy,
Go to your local newspaper and let them see your work and tell them that you are interested in being a stringer for them at sporting events.
That's what I did many years ago. I used to go and photograph Baltimore Orioles games for the local paper here. Matter of fact Cal Ripken,Sr used to slap me around alot down by the dugout.....

What's a stringer? I assume it is some kind of a free lance photographer. <IMG SRC="/metal/html/blink.gif" BORDER=0 width=18 height=18 ALT="b~">
