I bought that new camera and was wondering what I would need in the way of filters AND what would I use them for. I understand a UV filter is used outside. What will it do for me and how about the florescent filters? :0)

UV's filter out ultra-violet light and enhance the picture quality. The best all around filter is a skylight filter. I have them on all my lenses. It serves to protect the outer lens ring from damage as well enhancing the picture quality. You would have to actually put a pic side by side and compare the UV to the skylight.
Flourescent filters? Does that new fangled camera of yours have a flourescent mode....?

thanks. I have a few things I would like to get for it. Gotta figure what I need

Are you sure that isn't an attachment lens instead of a filter........
Mine usually run about $20-$30

that expensive. I paid $20.00 for the Hoya HMC UV filter. Another great attachment is the polarizer filter. It's great for outdoor scenes especially blue skies with white clouds. You just turn the ring until the sky turns bluer. Also reduces reflections from water.
